Ms. Mireia Marcos – Midwife and Reflexologist
Spain
Reflexology in the Puerperium.
A Glimpse of What Reflexology Can Do for The New Mother.
Mireia herself describes the purpose and the content of this lecture:
"...As a Midwife, following women through all the process, I've realised that the hardest bit is the puerperium, although is not usually cared enough. I present few experiences to show the potential of reflexology after the birth: As a start, management of emergencies: postpartum haemorrhage, avoiding drugs thanks to manual resources. Solving a postpartum high fever related to acute mastitis, avoiding the call to a hospital and use of antibiotics . Followed by some examples of the benefits in physical pain after caesarian, helping with breastfeeding and bonding..."
A demonstration of Mireia's techniques will be performed and projected to a big screen in real time.
I'm Mireia Marcos, I trained as a midwife in England in 2005.
Currently I work in a family health center, Marenostrum, in Barcelona, Spain, caring for pregnant women, attending homebirth and following the puerperium.
Reflexology found me by chance in 2000, when I was still a hospital nurse. I started using it with friends and relatives and finally with patients and mothers.
I received some more training from Denise Tiran in UK and from Mauricio in Spain. It's the tool I always carry with me. I also practise Reiki, Quiromassage, Cromopuncture and Journey Therapy.

Ms. Nili Noam - Reflexologist
The Body-Mind Scope of Reflexology and Its Contribution to the Treatment of SubFertility.
The will of bringing babies to the world has lots of facets. When a couple find that they might be unable to conceive, they are usually invaded by negative feelings that like as a domino effect, trigger a chain of other negative feelings: anguish, anxiety, fear, guilt and anger. An apparently hormonal based problem may trigger negative feelings that like a vicious circle, triggers a negative hormonal response in the body. Reflexology, mainly a Body-Mind and balancing therapy, contributes to the treatment of Sub Fertility, adding hope, understanding and relax to this dramatic period of frustration, uncertainty and hopelessness.
Nili Noam is a Reflexologist and a multi-disciplinary therapist. Graduated at "Institute of Human Ecology" following studies with Rachel Hodadov. Nili is graduated from TRC, London, 1985.
She has an experience of 23 years as a therapist, 8 of them as part of the "Maccabi Natural"

The Experience of Giving Birth. Where Does it Start And How Does Touch Empower the Process?
The woman is responsible for the experiences she has and this will influence her course of life. Each experience becomes a feeling and is signed in the memory. What kind of experience she will remember? The last moments of the birth will stay in her memory and will determine the "birth experience".
The experience can start in the child birth education class. Meeting groups of expecting couples gives them the possibility to share and learn from each other. Gaining knowledge from a qualified person can reduce the fears.
The attitude of the midwife in regards to the "birth experience". The benefits of touching during birth; when, whom and does it important by whom it is given?
Rita is a nurse and midwife working in a Ramba"m Hospital in Haifa. She has a BA degree in criminology and sociology from Bar-Ilan University.
